Many people come to see me, concerned and seeking support with many natural questions that affect humanity. These concerns can be concerns about our abilities, about our fears, about our pasts, and about our futures. Concerns around families, loved ones, and relationships. Concerns about workplace, finances, status and survival. No one query is ever the same as another, as each person brings their self, their own elements, experiences and strengths to the solution. Each individual query is unique.

What is it that people find helpful when they see somebody about these concerns? If you were to see somebody, who would listen to you, I mean really listen to what you have to say, would that be helpful? If you were to see someone who wanted to uncover your past, your fears, your traumas, would that be really useful to you? If you were to think about what you find useful, what normally helps, in the past what has been useful, then ask your therapist, counsellor, confidant if they can work with you in this way, you may have found the most useful way of checking if your choice for support is the right one for you!!!

It interests me that as practioners we aspouse to theories that are meant to be the cure alls of society. Every modality has its worth, how ever no modality is as important as the person the practioner has in front of them.

  1. Nice blog to reflect on and to remind ourselves that it is often the concerns expressed by people (negative or positive) that coolur our perception of an individual... to look beyond the concern (which can be diffcult at times when swamped by a barrage of verbal negativity - aka "the Complainant"), is the key to initiating a fruitful clinet/participant experience... to look beyond the most noisy verbal means of communication and just join together in silence would be interesting, maybe even a great way to cure some, not all concers, by simply saying nothing and admiring just what is... Well done you! I look forward to your next blog!
